Accessibility statement
Why Shell websites support accessibility
The world-wide web can be a great enabler and source of freedom and ability for disabled audiences, giving them the resources to find information they need.
Royal Dutch Shell is committed to making its websites equally accessible to all users with disabilities as well as impairments incurred through aging. This includes people with sight problems, hearing, mobility and cognitive impairments as well as users with dial-up, older browsers or newer technologies such as mobiles and PDAs.
We work closely with UK's Royal National Institute for the Blind to ensure that our websites meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 1.0 Double-A.
The site has been tested by RNIB to ensure that it is compatible with adaptive technologies such as screen readers, Braille output, screen magnification, voice input and text browsers.
We continue to work to ensure everybody's needs are addressed. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the accessibility of this site, please
contact us as we continually strive to improve the experience for all visitors.
Using our websites
Shell websites have a common structure and framework. We use a content management system which helps us maintain a consistent look and feel and navigation across many websites.
The top of the page contains links to the Shell Directory ( a listing of country, business and corporate websites), Shell.com, help, a sitemap and search engine facility. Below this, the page splits into 3 areas:
The left-hand navigation contains a menu that changes to reflect the various sections as you browse through our websites.
The content pane in the middle of the page is where you’ll find the text of the page you’ve browsed to.
The right-hand navigation pane contains links and features related to the current website. It is not necessarily present on all our webpages.
At the bottom of the page you find the footer with Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions as well as the Copyright statement.
The only exception to this is the Shell.com homepage, which is the portal page to all Shell websites.
Printable version
On deeper level pages you will encounter a Printable version link at the top of the page.
The ‘printable version’ link opens in a new window in order to display the content of the page in a printable format.
