Shell’s latest scenarios: energy planning in a volatile world

Hosted by Jeremy Bentham, Shell Vice President Global Business Environment

Session closed May 4th, 2011

Global energy consumption is fast increasing and, in contrast, traditional energy sources are rapidly depleting. The next forty years will see profound developments taking place in the world’s energy system. Developing nations are entering their energy-intensive phase as new technologies are adopted at home and in business.

By 2050, our global energy usage will have grown significantly. This forecast increase in demand leaves an unprecedented gap, a zone of uncertainty, which we must try to bridge sensitively and sustainably to meet the challenges ahead.

Shell’s Vice President Global Business Environment, Jeremy Bentham, hosted the discussion, “Shell’s latest scenarios: energy planning in a volatile world”, and addressed a number of questions.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the two webchat sessions.
